This volume consists of two series of public lectures, under the headings Constantinople and its Legacy and Byzantine Heritage delivered in Toronto between the years 1992-2001. They were sponsored by the Hellenic Canadian Association of Constantinople in Toronto, a group of Greek Constantinopolitans in Canada, with the academic assistance of the Canadian Committee of Byzantinists, the Canadian branch of the Association international des Etudes Byzantines, and hosted by St Michaels' College of the University of Toronto. Each lecture was edited by this editor and printed as a booklet at the University of Waterloo, under the sponsorship of the Hellenic Canadian Association of Constantinople, in a small number of offprints and circulated among students, academics and interested individuals. Each booklet contained a brief note on the lecture series, the sponsor, the particular speaker and the text of the lecture. The present collective volume has maintained the format of those booklets avoiding any unnecessary repetition, and without updating the profile of each speaker intentionally, as a way of marking the academic spot of every particular speaker at each particular time.
